Ben Wilson’s miniature chewing-gum depictions of London street scenes
First he softens the gum with a blow torch, sprays it with lacquer, and applies three coats of acrylic enamel. He then uses tiny brushes to paint the scenes, drying the paint with a cigarette lighter as he works. Very cool.

The Rapper and the Stray Dogs of Detroit
Roaming dogs have been a part of the city of Detroit for a long time.
It’s estimated that the city has the most homeless dogs in the nation at anywhere from 30,000 to 50,000. The city, the poorest major city in the country, has a hard time controlling the issue.
Many residents find that they can no longer pay to feed their dogs and just let them loose on the streets. A recent Rolling Stone article chronicled the issue in detail, along with the man who is on a mission to help the dogs and help his city.keep reading (more photos of dogs, plus where to adopt here)

Look up the term “absent referent”. Try to see how the disassociation between the victim and the end product plays into your relationship with animals and compare it to a relationship without that disassociation, like one with an animal you know personally. Think about why you think the way you do. Think at all.

Moony Khoa Le (Vietnam) - safe zone
“The image kept coming up in my head after a chit-chat with a friend, so I had to draw it down to get rid of the obsession. To tell the truth, there’s no particular story attached to it. I gave it to 2 of my friends and told them to give the image a meaning. Each one gave me her completely different version based on their own view and personal experiences. What’s your story, then?”

I’m so impressed by the passion and bravery of the Italian activists who freed 30 beagles from Green Hill, a massive, hellish breeding farm that supplies dogs to vivisection labs.
Because of their loving and forgiving nature, beagles are commonly tested on all across the world (notoriously by cigarette companies, with the exception of American Spirits). Unfortunately, a few of the beagles were confiscated and returned to their prison, but they will not be forgotten. My hope is that their story and their sacrifice will be shared and publicized so that people will open their hearts and eyes and stand up against unreliable, unjustified animal testing.
Keep being awesome, Italians.

i’ve never had a dream that doesn’t include you in some way. some nights you’re my hero, and some nights you’re my foe. some nights i hate you, others i acquire at least a begrudging respect. but that’s a lie; where by lie i mean defensive mechanism. there are not words for how close to you i feel, nor are there are numbers for how much i’d throw away to be with you. i don’t know why i need you; i only know that i do. i don’t know how i love you; i only know that i can.
if a path could be paved with melodies you’d sing me there. and i’d follow it straight.
